TRADITIONAL ENGLISH MARKET TOWNS AND VILLAGES.

Being at the heart of England, Foxhill is surrounded by traditional English market towns and villages. All have buildings dating back hundreds of years. Our market towns and villages are full of quaint streets, small shops and traditional English Tea shops and cafes. Our market towns are noted for their friendly atmosphere  with places to stroll and relax.

SKIPTON AND CLITHEROE

The Market Towns closest to us at Foxhill Barn are Clitheroe and Skipton. Both have open markets, ancient castles and churches as well as plenty of shops, cafes and restaurants. The view from the top of Clitheroe castle should not be missed.

Skipton's open market is large, with a great variety of stalls and very English. Skipton also has attractive canal side walks and a wide range of shops. The medieval castle is fully roofed and probably the best preserved medieval castle in England.

HAWORTH

Haworth Parsonage, was the home of the famous novelists Charlotte and Emily Bronte. Walk along the cobbled high street, housing many specialist and unique shops, then stop and enjoy some of the fine traditional foods on offer in one of the restaurants and cafes. 

VILLAGES

There are many attractive villages around us including our home village of Gisburn. The traditional English village is a collection of houses which have grown up over the centuries. The village church and pub form a hub around which  village life revolves. You will have the opportunity to visit some of the most picturesque villages in Britain set in some of our most beautiful countryside. You will see interesting and attractive old houses, stroll by rivers see waterfalls and browse in shops and visitor centres.

GRASSINGTON

Grassington is one of the best-known villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, with its pretty cobbled square and beautiful setting above the River Wharfe.

People have lived around here since prehistoric times, but the village first became important as a centre for the lead mining industry in the 18th century. Many of today's picturesque cottages once housed miners and their families.
